The Ongoing Evolution of Workspaces – What Businesses Should Know

The Ongoing Evolution of Workspaces

As we approach mid-2025 and our workspaces keep shifting, businesses are rethinking what their offices should look like, and for good reason. Our partners at Haworth® recently conducted a study that highlights six of the ways workspaces are evolving to meet employers’ and employees’ needs. We’ve summarized these findings below.

What To Be Mindful Of With Changing Workspaces

1) Flexibility is now a must-have. As you’re undoubtedly aware these days, workspaces are no longer “one size fits all”. Employees are looking for more choices in how, where and when they work. To attract top talent, employers are offering collaborative spaces, quiet areas and other adaptations to support different work styles.

2) Culture is still in the workplace itself. Even as the world moves towards hybrid environments, the actual office still plays a large role in shaping company culture. The office is where we build connections, reinforce values, and help people feel a sense of belonging. The workspace design can help reflect a brand and foster the culture.

3) Collaboration should be intentional. In a hybrid work environment, where employees are split between in-person and remote work, collaboration isn’t by accident. Office spaces should support meaningful interactions that can be either scheduled or spontaneous.

The Ongoing Evolution of Workspaces4) People crave purpose in their work. As cliché as it sounds, for work to be rewarding to employees, it needs to be about more than a paycheck. In a well-designed workspace, a company can reinforce its mission and values, and help their staff feel more connected to their work.

5) Well-being matters too. It’s a top priority for employees in their job search to find an employer that supports physical and mental well-being. Adding ergonomic furniture, natural light, biophilic design and acoustic comfort is more than just a “nice to have” in modern workspaces these days.

6) Change is constant. As any business owner knows, the only constant in the world is change, and workplaces should be flexible and able to evolve. Adaptable spaces mean that you’re not just solving today’s needs – you’re ready for tomorrow’s too.
